Need to Protect Sex Workers’ Right to Health in India: A Comparison with New Zealand
The research paper focuses upon the current status of sex workers in India. The paper explains the legal framework adopted in India and New Zealand for the working of sex work industry in the respective jurisdictions. The objective of the paper is to emphasize upon the status of sex worker’s right to health and understand how the criminalization of sex work industry impacts this right. The paper makes a comparative analysis of the approaches adopted in India and New Zealand to better comprehend the correct practices of legalisation of the sex work. Further, the paper aims to analyze whether the decriminalsation of sex work industry be beneficial in protecting the right to health of the sex workers. The mixed approach of decriminalsation and legalisation of sex work has been highlighted in the paper. Some practical suggestions have been mentioned in the paper for the upliftment of status of sex workers’ right to health.
